Organizations and Social Media!

Part 1: Needs Analysis
Organization’s Background

I have worked previously helping non-profit organizations, small business, and independent artist make their presence on social media. After my undergrad degree I started my own business as an Independent Public Relations Specialist, and Social Media Manager, called Jackson PR Enterprises.  I recently, was asked to continue to manage the social media accounts of a small business and a non-profit started by the same founder.  Both, I feel can benefit from a social media plan for their organization. Global Investment Co. is a small financial consulting self owned business, and the Women’s Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit founded out of Oakland, CA dealing with women outreach, resources and support.

When it comes to the challenges and opportunities that exist in terms of social media for these two organizations, a challenge would be trying to get them to stand out from similar businesses, increase their customer base, and build a network contacts. If they were able accomplish these three challenges then they will most likely be able to increase revenue, build customer base and even be able to expand.

Social Media Tools

To be able to meet such criteria there are certain social media tools that can be used to embody their respective strength and weaknesses.  For example; Hootsuite is my favorite social media platforms, used for business and organizations. With Hootsuite we are able to post on multiple pages, and social media sites at once, as well as set up pre post, tweets, and monitors social media activity. With this tool a business can post several times a day without having to do it them selves. The organization can even choose, different topics and Hootsuite will post pre-timed related topic post on your feed. This helps your social media stay active, relevant, and even promotional.

Another useful tool social media presents is customer expansion.  Though social media we can increase our reach. We should be able to leverage our engagement with the public on Facebook and Twitter to double our customer acquisition rates over the course of the next year. (Blanchard, 2011)  This is the step that will increase our customer base and build new cliental.  This step will be useful for Global Investment Co. Inc. to build more clients for financial consulting, and

Social media is an ideal place to run promotions, and campaigns.  For example, a campaign perfect for the Women’s Chamber of Commerce can put together a Women’s March. With social media we can reach numbers, to spread the word. People can create events, share information, and invite others, the event or Women’s March. Like the ALS Ice Bucket challenge, The Breast Cancer Awareness Walk, and many others that became a movement on Social media and made a different not just in this nation but also all over the world. Our campaign can be one of them!

Both of these organizations are different in that ones a non-profit, that promotes support, enrichment and networking of women, especially women who are minorities. The other is a small business, specializing in financial consulting. However, both are looking for growth and can be linked together through providing financial literacy to minority women. Therefore, I want to establish a social media plan, promoting separately and cross promoting, by provide content related to financial literacy, women and minority enrichment, engaging by providing resource and support to clients and members.

I want to build a campaign intertwining the two promoting, building and growing with the message of financial literacy for minority women. This will bring more members to the Women’s Chamber of Commerce and more members of women’s chamber will want to be clients of Global Investment Co.

Through social media we will create events, workshops, classes, and fundraisers. We will start campaigns such as the Women’s March, The Financial and Budget Challenges, which creates a campaign challenging others to save money. When we engage and participate than we will be able too to build trust, create reviews, and reach people in numbers.

“Social Media seems like a great way for us to turn our loyalty program into stronger repeat business. I want to start by focusing on frequency and yield campaigns so we can get our sales numbers back on track before the end of the quarter.” (Blanchard, 2011)

Conclusion

In conclusion I want to establish a social media plans cross promoting Global Investment Company and Women’s Chamber of Commerce.  I want to set their FACEBOOK, LinkedIn, and Twitter Accounts to post 5-10 times a day with Financial illiteracy tips, event/workshop invites, articles related to Empowerment of Women, minority women, and promotional campaigns.

I want to create to two events and campaigns to start. The first would be the Women’s March event and campaign, and the other is the financial challenge, where we promote a campaign to save money weekly. For example, create a challenge where we save a certain a mount a week for 52 weeks; Week 1- $1 Week 2-$2 Week 3- $3 and so on through week 52. When others hear the benefits of the challenge the more people we will get to participate, cross promoting and adding clients/ members to both organizations. Increase revenue and promoting our fundraising event for the Women’s March Campaign.

This social media plan will address the four goals. We will raise awareness by posting regularly and adding connections on all sites. We will influence perception by using positive campaigns, posting motivational and helpful information for minority women. Also, by teaching and promoting financial literacy, and empowerment of women, I want to increase social media engagement by providing resources, workshops and support through the set up of social media sites. This will help increase loyalty and promote referral programs. All these steps will lead to increased sales, more members/ cliental and donations for the non-profit.

Part 2: Identification of Topic

Starter Campaigns included: The Women’s March Event, and the Financial Budget Challenge.

Other Topics include Financial Literacy, Women Empowerment, Minority rights and Homelessness Outreach. I also want to invest into a self-esteem promotion for women, continuing education and parenting classes. I want to work with other non-profits, such as Mother’s against violence, Cooperative Center Federal Credit Union, Child Welfare, Rainbow Push Coalition and other positive, empowering and resourceful organizations who have the same interest of Global Investment Company and Women’s Chamber of Commerce.
